Blind Obsession by Ella Frank

Blind Obsession
Ella Frank did an absolutely incredibly amazing job....

oh my good god....... I've just finished the book.
And I can't bring myself to digest the story... or I will cry a river... right here at office desk....... poor poor souls.... oh. my. god.

I'm not sure what I should call this. She calls it erotica... I'd like to call it a love story.. a very dark and twisted one. And I can obviously not say anything about the story without spoiling it.. You'll discover it together with Gemma, a journalist who's there to reveal the truth behind this love story. And it's not her alone. It's him. It's her. It's her. And it's the journal. It's the painting. It's the music.

Her way of story telling kept me curious.. I was full blown intrigued. I wanted to know how the story ends. People kept asking me how I like the story while I was reading... I couldn't tell them anything. ANYTHING. All I answered was, I'm captivated and I wanna know how this will end. One it did. Bammm... it hit me in the face. It's the last painting that's been there all along.

Love looks not with the eyes but with the minds.
The story blew me... my heart is still thumping so hard. Wow. This is the first book I read from Ella Frank. There is no doubt I'm so searching for more books from her. O. m. g.

Deception (The Mystic Series) by B.C. Burgess

Deception

Oh my ... Sooooo much has happened in this book.

Fin's made his move. We get to know who he is and his intention.
The stranger's revealed.
Farris's gone. Guthrie is promoted.
Agro is getting insane.

Layla's introduced to Quin's friends and they played hockey.
Can't stop comparing it with Twilight's baseball.
But this one IS SO GOOOOD.
How they played it and the rink.
Oh the rink was so sweet. :)

Bonnie has proved to be as thorough as Quin
(if not more, but is it possible?)...
not one stone unturned.
She never once failed to mention Layla sealed her dress before flying
or how her grandparents noticed the change in their guestroom.
The guestroom scene just shows how thoughtful the author is.
I didn't expect it. But it's there. And I'm glad it is.
The grand speech from Layla to Fin.
The speech from Quin to Cordelia, his mother.
Oh my goodness. They're so heartfelt.

And as you read through the book....
oh my... I wish the book ended at Chapter 29...
I'd be sooooo in my happy place.
But no, Bonnie had to make sure we didn't forget
there is something dark lurking near Quin and Layla's happy bubbles...
And now I need the 4th book - Retribution. NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
"I love you so much, Layla. It's unreal how much."
oh I LOVE Quin. He's too good, he's unreal. ;)

Impassion (The Mystic Series) by B.C. Burgess

Impassion
You have to read Descension (book 1) before reading this book.
Impassion is book 2 in the Mystic Series..

Two words came to mind while reading... Touchy-feely and awwwww....
It seems Quin couldn't keep his hands to himself and Layla didn't seem to want him too. They were so affectionate, passionate, and so sweet.

Impassion introduces you to aura dissection and it's so stinking cute!

Layla's magic power is stronger but still not enough when faced with Farris, Agro's right hand. And there is one more important character introduced, Finley. Finley seems to think he could easily replace Quin but Layla disagreed. She put her foot down and I LOVE her for it. She's finally grown out of her shell.

Can't wait for Deception (The Mystic Series). I'm so eager to find out what awaits them when they have finally admitted I Love Yous to each other. :)

Right now my aura is pulsing with espresso brown with pink stripes. :)

In the Air (the City #1) by Crystal Serowka

In the Air
I love the fast paced story.
This book starts and ends within the span of about a week.
I love reading about dancers.
I love the movie Step Up and I can't help when my mind went to it while reading.
Crystal's story is so believable.
Her writing sucks me in.
I can't believe she's not from NY where the story settles.
And she can see all her characters so clear she wrote from 4 different people's POV.
The first book I've ever read with story being told from 4 different characters and all believable too.
Great work. Can't believe it's her debut.
Well done. :)

Descension (Mystic) by B.C. Burgess

Descension
I was told this series is somewhere between Twilight and Harry Potter. I've read all the Twilight series but none of Harry Potter. I was a bit afraid that the characters will be too young for me to relate. But... I was worried for nothing. Quin the main character is already A MAN. A beautiful one at that. :)

The paranormal part of this book are wizards and magics. These wizards live peacefully among us. And one of them own a coffee shop on the Cannon Beach. And that's where the story began.

I love BC Burgess's language. I love her story telling. I wanted to follow Layla and hunt the cafe with her.

Descension is so filled with love. First half of the book was how sweet Quin is to Layla. How he revealed his secret and showed her the magic. Then second half was from her parents love. Love from Katherine, the mother who raised her. Love from her grandparents. Though you can see it coming, you can't stop the tear from streaming. I made a mistake of reading it at work and had to hold my tears.

"Promise me one more thing, Katherine."
"Sure, Chris, anything."
"Love her more than anyone's been loved in the history of time. Love her like her mom loved her, like I love her..." His throat tightened, strangling his request.
"I promise, " Katherine whispered, wiping away a tear. "She deserves it all."

Descension truly is a love filled paranormal that felt so real, oh, but don't think it's cheesy. The scary heart pounding parts are also there. Agro... the devil. Medea the witch who created all this problem. Only if there was no Medea, only if she didn't lose her mind... Only if....

I'm going to read Impassion (The Mystic Series) as soon as I finish typing this because book 3 is coming out already tomorrow! Eeep!!! More Quinlan!!! xxxx

My Kindle Paperwhite

Kindle Paperwhite

I've been buying kindle books from Amazon since April last year so that's a year to be exact. I've been reading on Kindle App on iPhone and iPad. I had no idea what reading on a Kindle's like.. but it must be cool, or so I thought.

This hype about Paperwhite came last year.. and everyone got it for Christmas. I was REALLY EXTREMELY curious about it. My husband encouraged me to get it since all I did on iPad was read on the Kindle App.

I was jumping up and down when I saw a Paperwhite in the store. My husband and I looked at it together. After less than one minute of touching it and playing around with it. I was disappointed. I pointed out three things to my husband and luckily I had my iPad with me.. so I opened the Kindle app and showed him. He got it. The salesperson was quiet. He couldn't argue with me.

  1. The speed is much slower. I just tapped to turn the page and it took noticeably longer for the page to turn.
  2. The bar in the bottom to slide and get to the part in the book you want is missing. You already miss flipping pages through the book to look for that one part you wanna look at again. The sliding bar at the bottom of Kindle App helps a bit. But now it's missing on Paperwhite.
  3. Every time the page is turned the whole screen blinks before giving you the next page.

I was so disappointed I didn't buy it. But the hype didn't stop. People were still ooh and ahh and all I heard was how much they love their Paperwhite. They don't even like it. They LOVE it.
And I was thinking most of these people are people who used the old Kindle before. So, maybe this Paperwhite is just better comparing with the original Kindle. I waited 3 more months until I found some amount of people who had been reading on Kindle App for iPad.. I thought now, these people should be able to tell me if they really like Paperwhite better.
Well, it happened to be only one person didn't like her Paperwhite. And she's gonna get iPad mini next. Her points were exactly mine. So, I thought that's like myself against everyone else. Maybe I was wrong. A friend pointed out about page turning speed.. how little it'd effect my total reading time. And some IT geek friends were explaining how the screen actually works with Paperwhite, how it saves energy, and why the whole screen turn black or whatever before giving you the page. Ok. So, the only thing missing was the sliding bar.. I thought.. right.. let's give it a try. It's better for the eyes after all.

I ordered my Paperwhite with 2 days shipping. I was sooooo excited when I ordered it.. I was again disappointed when I opened it. All my points remained. The screen light flicking, the speed, the sliding bar. But now, I freaked a bit when I highlighted the text on it. It's gray!! Call me stupid. But I totally forgot about it. Kindle App nowadays give you the option to highlight your text with colors. Colors. Not just yellow, but now with blue, pink, and orange! Not only it's gray.. it won't even stay highlighted. No, Paperwhite then slowly gives you 4 options, to share, highlight, add note, or more. So, basically to highlight something.. you have to press your finger on one word, drag, wait, and tap. All with slow speed. Kindle App highlights it until you lift your finger and it stays highlighted... if you wanna do something else about it, tap on the highlighted part again. But ok, maybe I'm a highlighting freak and not everyone highlight their books.. so.. I endure it.

One last small complaint but maybe because it's not Apple. The button to switch it off is at the bottom. I'm so used to the button being on the top. It's much easier and more practical. Oh well, like I said, another small complaint.
I decided to not return it since it's small and light. And the backlight is really good to read on.

But the most ridiculous part came last night. The brightness auto-adjustment only works with daylight. I had the light in my bedroom on at night. When I switched the big light off without switching on the bedside lamp? I couldn't tell if my Paperwhite was on. It was dark. So totally dark that I couldn't tell the difference between on and off. I had to switch the lamp on and take a look at it. Adjusted the brightness before turning the lamp off.
***sigh***

I'm keeping my Paperwhite because
  1. it's really better for the eyes when I read.
  2. it's light and small. It fits better in my purse. And I can hold it with one hand.

So, yeah... I'm using it. But I'm not happy about it. I hope Kindle team will find the way to improve it because I love reading.. and kindle books make life much easier.

I gave it a 3-star on Amazon review.

My Magenta Paperwhite Case

rooCASE Ultra-Slim

Why did I choose this rating?
Because I love it. I posted on my Facebook for people to help decide the color of my brand new Paperwhite's case. I didn't tell them what I decided on. But when they see it, they all love it. Me too. Even my husband who's against all thing pink thought this Magenta looks good.
And the work is neat. There is no loose thread.

What did I like or dislike?
I like the fact that I get exactly what the description says. The auto sleep/wake function becomes very useful especially when the device's on/off button is at the bottom. I'm used to iPad and iPhone's button being on the top. With this cover, I just flip it close. And, the fact that I'm vegetarian, what a nice coincidence that this is vegan leather! And maybe I'm lucky but mine doesn't come with any smell like some reviews mentioned.

Who would I recommend this product to?
This one is easy. If you're not getting the original case from Amazon. Get this one. It's half the price. Does the same thing. Protect your Paperwhite. :)

Finding Never (Never say Never) byC.M. Stunich

Finding Never

Finding Never is book 2 in Never say Never trilogy.

I loved Ty and Never from Tasting Never (Never Say Never) so I didn't hesitate to continue their story in this book 2.

You should read Book 1 Tasting Never before reading this book to understand their background. Their problems. Their demons. Because this Book 2 Finding Never is all out solving Never's problems. Ty's problem is still in the dark. And I'm looking forward to find out about it in book 3 Keeping Never (Never say Never).

One good strong point about Book 1 is that these two characters knew they had problems and they tried to fix it. What I love about this book 2 is their strength to face it and the ability to forgive. Simple words and little sentences that can set their troubled minds free, "I love you" and "I forgive you."

Never dealt with her past. Get the closure and move on. She had to face her sisters, her Mother, the murderer who killed her father, and lastly she has to face her Noah Scott. Oh... the sweetest of sweet is Noah Scott
" I didn't want to leave in case you came back. Somehow, someday, I knew you would." Noah pauses.  "I guess I was right."

They were in love. And they've never fallen out of love. So, Never had to chose. And she did.

"He's my..." It takes me the longest moment in history to answer this question." He's my soul mate."
